This year, 2020, Nong Lam University - Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Center for International Forestry Research – CIFOR held a Networking Discussion on “Building International and National Network on Linking Climate Change Policy, Practice and Science”, a parallel session of the Third International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture and Environment (SAE 2020).

This section aimed to provide knowledge sharing and networking platform so that national and national policy makers, private sector, international and national CSOs, academia, indigenous groups, media can discuss on opportunities and challenges to link policy, practice and science. This section also aims to identify approaches and establish stakeholders’ collaborative efforts in fostering linkages between policy, science and practice and ensure effective, efficient and equitable outcomes of climate change and sustainable development policies.
The session attracted the attention and participation of many Vietnamese and foreign partners in the country. Specifically, NLU was honored to have the presence of Prof.Dr. Bui Chi Buu, Former Director, Institute of Agricultural Science for Southern Vietnam, Prof.Dr. Bui Cach Tuyen, Former Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, PhD. Tran Quang Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Economy and Management, Ms. Tina Ou, Cultural Attache of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Santiago Velasquez, General Director of Simosol Oy Company and other important delegates. In particular, the session also had online speeches via Zoom by Mr. Benjamin Petlock, Senior Agricultural Attaché of the US Embassy and Professor. Daniel Murdiyarso, Principal Scientist and Former Deputy Minister of the Environment, Indonesia. In addition, the success of the Network Discussion also had the online participation of foreign partners from the UK, USA, Japan and Indonesia.
In acknowledging the challenging times due to COVID-19, this event occured without the participation of our partners from other countries. However, we are honored to have online presentations via Zoom by prensenters from Australia, England and so on.
Hopefully, the collaboration between Nong Lam University - Ho Chi Minh City and other universities, institutes, agencies in Vietnam as well as other foreign partners will be strengthened and new research ideas will be developed after this Network Discussion.
